Two Officers Shot and Killed Responding To Mississippi Welfare Check

After responding to a call for a welfare check made from a Motel 6 in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, two Bay St. Louis Police Department officers were shot and killed early Wednesday morning, Emily Mae Czachor reports for CBS News.

The officers, Branden Estorffe and Steven Robin, arrived at the motel before 4:30 am and approached the suspect, 43-year-old Amy Anderson, in a parked vehicle accompanied by a female minor. After speaking with Anderson for 30 minutes and having Child Protective Services called, Anderson shot both officers from the vehicle and then herself, according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.
