Suspect Charged In Federal Court For New Year’s Eve NYPD Attack

Trevor Bickford, 19, the suspect in an attack on three New York City police officers near Times Square on New Year’s Eve, has now been charged in federal court, Benjamin Weiser and Ed Shanahan report for the New York Times.

Bickford allegedly told investigators after his arrest that he came to New York to “kill people and carry out jihad.” Bickford was already arraigned on charges of first-degree attempted murder, attempted assault and state terrorism counts on the state level. Now, he faces four federal counts of attempted murder.
