Supreme Court to Hear Cuomo-Era Corruption, Fraud Cases

The Supreme Court will hear arguments in appeals by an ex-aide to former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and a businessman charged in connected cases in 2016 in a corruption crackdown by federal prosecutors in Manhattan focused on wrongdoing in Albany, Nate Raymond reports for Reuters.

The decision by the court will also affect the convictions of three defendants charged with corruption and fraud cases during Cuomo’s tenure. Recently, the court rejected prosecutors in political corruption cases, including a 2020 decision to ditch the convictions of two aides to Republican former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
