Prosecutors Ask to Drop Case Accusing NY Cop of Spying for China

[ad_1]

Federal prosecutors are asking to dismiss charges made against NYPD officer Baimadajie Angwang two years ago, accusing him of acting as a spy providing information about Tibetans in the U.S. for the Chinese government, Ed Shanahan reports for the New York Times. Now a judge must approve the motion to dismiss.

“The anguish and expense that this police officer and Marine Corps veteran has endured is not easily described,” Angwang’s defense attorney, John Carman, told CNN. “We are optimistic that the Court will grant the motion and that this great American will have the opportunity to repair untold damage to his life.”
