Michigan AG Releases Sex Abuse Report for Marquette Diocese

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel released a report on Thursday detailing the alleged abuse of both children and adults within the Marquette Catholic Diocese in the state since 1950. The report contains details of allegations made against 44 priests. In 2018, a large team of Michigan State Police troopers and special agents from the Department of Attorney General executed search warrants at Michigan’s seven dioceses, seizing millions of digital and paper documents used in the investigations that led to this public report. The Department has so far issued criminal charges in 11 cases involving 38 survivors.

“The Department of Attorney General is committed to ensuring that every case of sexual abuse and assault is thoroughly reviewed and that whenever we are able to pursue justice we do so relentlessly and aggressively,” said Nessel in the AG’s announcement.
