Man Involved in Plot to Kidnap Michigan’s Gov Sentenced to 16 Years

The co-leader of a group that conspired to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in 2020 was sentenced to 16 years in prison for conspiring to abduct the Democrat and blow up a bridge to ease an escape after a judge said a life sentence wasn’t necessary.

Michigan’s governor was not harmed, but Whitmer wasn’t physically harmed, but according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Nils Kessler, “they had no real plan for what to do with the governor if they actually seized her. Paradoxically, this made them more dangerous, not less.”
