Lawmakers Push For Action On Purported Supreme Court Leak

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Rep Hank Johnson (D-GA) wrote to Chief Justice John Roberts over the weekend demanding the court share what is being done in response to a recent New York Times report detailing an abortion activist’s claim that the ruling of the 2014 landmark Lobby Lobby contraceptive case (Burwell v. Hobby Lobby), was leaked to them in advance. The two lawmakers, who earlier this year wrote to the Court about another breach, threatened to launch their own probe investigating the leak, Josh Gerstien reports for Politico.

The two members of congress also sent a letter in September to Roberts asking for answers about a purported year-long lobbying effort pushing for advantageous decisions by the judges, but received an inadequate response, according to Whitehouse.
