Failed New Mexico GOP Candidate Arrested For Targeting Dems in Drive-by Shootings

A man who authorities say was angry about his defeat in a November election in South Valley, New Mexico was arrested Monday for multiple drive-by shootings that reportedly targeted democratic legislators in their homes in New Mexico, Rio Yamat reports for the Associated Press. Solomon Pena allegedly masterminded a “politically-motivated conspiracy” that included drive-by shootings at the homes of two county commissioners and two state legislators.

Pena reportedly claimed the November election was rigged, including his own race against state Rep. Miguel P. Garcia, who won by 48 percentage points. There were no casualties in the shootings. Exact charges against Pena and additional arrests are expected to be announced in the coming days.
