Elizabeth Holmes Bids for New Trial After Surprise Visit From Witness

Elizabeth Holmes, convicted in January of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud for misleading investors about her blood-testing startup Theranos, is requesting a  a new trial, arguing that a witness against her in her previous trial apologized and recanted his original testimony, Heather Somerville reports for the Wall Street Journal. In September, Holmes requested the hearing after a former lab director at Theranos visited her, and, according to Holmes, apologized and claimed that the government had “twisted his testimony,” and that he felt guilty. The hearing will be held at 9am PST/12pm EST. The lab director, Adam Rosendorff, denies Holmes’ account of his visit and denies the statements she attributes to him.
