DOJ Requests 90-Month Sentence For Man Who Assaulted Late Capitol Officer

The Department of Justice is seeking a 90-month sentence for Julian Khater, the man who pepper sprayed three officers during the 2021 attack on the capitol, Politico’s Kyle Cheney tweeted Monday. One officer, Brian Sicknick, died the day after the attack following two strokes. Khater was convicted as part of a guilty plea in September and is scheduled for sentencing on Friday.

The medical examiner ruled that USCP Officer Sicknick’s death was by “natural causes,” but that the events at the capitol “played a role in his condition.”
